OVERVIEW

2018 Annual Cancer Treatment-Related Adverse Events Symposium is organized by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and will be held from Oct 26 - 27, 2018 at Mortimer B. Zuckerman Research Center, New York City, New York, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs, Pharmacists, and other professionals involved in the care of cancer patients. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 12.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Overview:
Systemic anticancer therapies including cytotoxic chemotherapies, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies have resulted in improvements in patient survival. Despite this remarkable success, the majority of patients will develop toxicities of various organ systems, which may impact overall health and activities of daily living, resulting in inconsistent antineoplastic therapy, all of which may affect clinical outcome. Therefore, prevention and management of untoward events is critical for the maintenance of quality of life and the optimization of anticancer therapies.

Symposium Highlights:
• Therapy-related adverse events will affect the majority of patients, resulting in increased cost, inconsistent dosing, and decreased the quality of life.
• With increased survival and patients living longer on therapy, adverse events affecting the quality of life and clinical outcome command attention.
• This symposium provides up to date information on adverse event mechanisms and management, from specialists in the most commonly affected organ systems.
• Practical strategies to maintain patients’ quality of life and dose intensity will be highlighted for the most frequently occurring events.

Objectives:
• Recognize the impact on quality of life, clinical presentation, and grading of treatment-related adverse events in cancer patients
• Understand mechanisms and interventions to prevent and treat acute and chronic adverse events in cancer patients
• Discuss procedures and clinical tools to assess treatment-related toxicities in cancer patients
