Jasmine H. Francis, MD a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialty training in ophthalmic oncology: the care of people with cancers in, on, and around the eye. Jasmine understands the impact that cancer can have on our patients and their families. Jasmine's goal is to provide the best treatment for each patient with the fewest side effects. At Memorial Sloan Kettering, we have the advantage of working closely with a team of specialized doctors such as radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, neurologists, and pediatric oncologists to create a coordinated plan of care for our patients. As a member of the MSK Kids team, Jasmine cares for young patients with retinoblastoma, pediatric cancer that arises inside the eye. The treatment of retinoblastoma is particularly challenging because we are striving to successfully treat the disease while also maintaining the health and vision of the eyes. We take a team approach to achieve these goals to the best of our abilities.

Jasmine also participates in an interdisciplinary effort at Memorial Sloan Kettering to treat and study patients with histiocytic disorders such as Erdheim-Chester disease and Langerhans cell histiocytosis. These are systemic diseases that can also affect the eye. Jasmine offers a perspective of the disease as it relates to the eye, including any side effects on the eye during treatment. As a clinician-scientist (academic oncologist), Jasmine has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. Jasmine's principal areas of research include intraocular tumors, including retinoblastoma and uveal melanoma. In addition, Jasmine continues to conduct research on the ocular side effects of cancer treatment. Jasmine was granted an Achievement Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and was recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 in Ophthalmology (published by The Ophthalmologist) and in Cancer (by McGivney Global Advisor, the Lynk group). Jasmine received research funding from the Macula Society.

Jasmine graduated from Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa with honors from Columbia University. Jasmine was awarded a Research Fellowship Award, in addition to spending a year at Oxford University. During Jasmine's training at New York University School of Medicine, Jasmine chose ophthalmology and after a transitional year, pursuing an internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Jasmine completed Jasmine's ophthalmology residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where Jasmine was awarded the William J. & Judith Turner Outstanding Resident Award. Jasmine then returned to Memorial Sloan Kettering to complete Jasmine's specialty training and fellowship in ophthalmic oncology, which is where Jasmine has remained.
