Course Description:
Hypertension is not just a cardiovascular problem due to elevated blood pressure. Extended studies across species, context and time have shown that hypertension has many and complex facets to both its origins and its consequences. Hypertension is therefore of concern for all professionals in healthcare, whether physicians, nurses, biomedical scientists, pharmacists, or health administrators.
The congress will explore a number of clinically important and exciting issues emerging from research into the pathogenetic roles of sodium, and adrenal micro-adenomas. Care modelled on advanced nurse-practitioners and pharmacist-led systems feature in the seminars. Mobile phone-based apps to initiate and monitor antihypertensive treatment can exploit the interface between management guidelines and pragmatic solutions to feedback information to patients and their caring professionals.
