Lipu's mission is to promote lifelong learning for doctors and contribute to the rapid dissemination of knowledge within healthcare.

Lipus AB is a leader in Sweden within external review of AT and ST and certification of courses for doctors. Lipus is a subsidiary of the Swedish Medical Association and is owned by the medical profession. The operations are self-financed. The company was founded in 2013.

Lipus' activities aim to promote lifelong learning, contribute to a rapid spread of knowledge and an even and high quality of education in health care. This contributes to securing a future supply of skills and a good quality of care with a high level of patient safety.

Since Lipus started in 2013, more than 1,650 external quality reviews have been conducted around the country. The reviews are carried out by doctors appointed by the specialty associations, also called inspectors, and are based on the requirements in the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations and general advice as well as the specialty associations' criteria for good education. There is great interest in region-wide quality reviews of ST according to the SPUR model.
