Lipus 'business concept is to promote doctors' lifelong learning and contribute to a rapid spread of knowledge in healthcare.

Lipus AB is a leader in Sweden in external review of AT and ST as well as certification of courses and congresses for doctors. Lipus is a subsidiary of the Swedish Medical Association and is owned by the medical profession.

Lipus' activities aim to promote lifelong learning, contribute to a rapid spread of knowledge and an even and high quality of education in health care. This contributes to securing a future supply of skills and a good quality of care with a high level of patient safety.

Since Lipus started in 2013, more than 1,650 external quality reviews have been conducted around the country. The reviews are carried out by doctors appointed by the specialty associations, also called inspectors, and are based on the requirements in the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations and general advice as well as the specialty associations' criteria for good education. There is great interest in region-wide quality reviews of ST according to the SPUR model.
