Basics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for Clinical Specialists is organized by Karolinska Cancer Center Foundation / Stiftelsen Cancercentrum Karolinska, Physicians' Institute for Professional Development in Healthcare / Lakarnas institut for professionell utveckling i sjukvarden (LIPUS) and will be held from Apr 13 - 14, 2026 at Cancer Center Karolinska (CCK), Solna, Stockholm, Sweden.

Description:
The main purpose of the course is to familiarize clinical specialists with basic concepts of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). By the end of the course attendees will have a solid understanding of AI/ML, its possibilities and potential use cases in current and future clinical work and research, as well as deal with ethical and security questions in AI training and application.

The overall goal of the course is to provide knowledge about the application of AI/ML in healthcare and develop a critical approach to AI/ML. The course should provide sufficient basic knowledge for further education and/or to be able to benefit from more advanced courses in AI/ML.

Results for the participant
After the course participants will:

• Be able to describe different AI/ML methods.
• Mention the strengths and weaknesses of different AI/ML models.
• Analyze and critically review scientific articles on AI-related methods.
• Develop ethically responsible use of AI tools.
