Description:
The course provides basic knowledge of the biological mechanisms of sex hormones and how they affect women's health, as well as knowledge of the investigation and treatment of hormone-related disorders. The course discusses the latest findings and recommendations. The course is intended to provide a current and broad knowledge base regarding hormone treatments for women for the prospective or completed specialist in general medicine who, after the course, will be able to manage patients in primary care who need treatment for gynecological and sex hormone-related disorders.

Overall goals:
The aim of the course is to provide participants with a broad and up-to-date knowledge of important and common hormonally related gynecological conditions and how they can be treated. After the course, participants will be able to independently and with greater confidence manage these patients in primary care and be able to identify those women who need referral to a specialist in gynecology.

After completing the course, participants are expected to have the following outcomes and competencies:

• After the course, participants should be able to describe common hormonally related gynecological conditions in primary care. STc4
• Participants should be able to account for relevant knowledge in anatomy and physiology as well as basic and gynecological examination and examination.
• Participants should be able to summarize the latest guidelines and recommendations and research findings in the field, based on the latest research findings. STc4
• Diagnostic skills: Participants should have acquired the knowledge to perform an adequate gynecological examination including taking a careful history, gynecological examination and, if necessary, sampling and interpretation of results. They can also identify those women who need further investigation or referral to a specialist in gynecology.
• Treatment competence: Participants can diagnose gynecological conditions, offer advice and initiate and follow up on hormonal treatment when needed. STc4
• Ethical and communicative competence: Participants should be aware of the ethical aspects of gynecological care and learn to communicate in a sensitive and respectful manner with female patients. They should be able to create a safe and confidential care environment and handle sensitive topics related to gynecology.
• Ability to assess and manage complications: Participants should be aware of potential complications and side effects related to hormonal therapy and be able to assess and manage these appropriately. They should also be aware of warning signs of serious conditions and know when and to whom to refer for specialist care. STc4
