APAGE Regional Congress 2019 - Controversies in Minimally Invasive Surgery, An Evolving Journey in Gynaecology

This annual event is organized by the Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in collaboration with SingHealth Duke-NUS OBGYN Academic Clinical Programme and the Asia-Pacific Association of Gynecologic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy (APAGE). This Congress will be held from 23 - 27 July 2019.

APAGE team is excited to bring you this year’s theme “Controversies in Minimally Invasive Surgery”. As the field of minimally invasive surgery advances, we often challenge ourselves to more complicated cases such as in cases of large uteri, frozen pelvis from endometriosis, severe adhesions from previous surgery and advanced pelvic cancers.

This year, we are honoured to have Dr Kim Tae Joong and Dr Sun Ching-Hsien performing live surgeries. There will also be a series of key lectures delivered by experts from around the region. The congress acts as a platform for experts and delegates to exchange their experience on techniques and approaches in challenging surgeries. There will be a showcase of latest medical and surgical innovations that can help us overcome these difficult situations.

The main congress will be followed by a hysteroscopy workshop which is suitable for the basic to the advanced laparoscopist. The workshop is open for expert and novice hysteroscopists who want to update their knowledge and skills in conventional hysteroscopy as well as learn about the application of new technologies. Delegates will experience hands-on training in diagnostic and mechanical operative hysteroscopy and endometrial resection.

Hysteroscopy Workshop: 27 July 2019

Venue: PSL 1B/C, Level B1, Academia, 20 College Rd, Singapore 169856

Who Should Attend:
Open for experts and novice hysteroscopists who want to update their knowledge and skills in conventional hysteroscopy and learn about the application of new technologies.

Objectives:
At the end of the course, delegates should be able to:
• Understand the role of hand-eye coordination in camera navigation
• Identify various intrauterine pathologies
• Utilize hysteroscopic instruments such as resectoscopes and mechanical shavers

Masterclass: 23 - 24 July 2019

Venue: KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Major Operating Theatre

Who Should Attend:
Open for surgeons who want to update their knowledge and skills in laparoscopic surgery.

Objectives:
At the end of the course, delegates should have a thorough understanding off:
• Detailed pelvic anatomy
• Bladder, ureteric, vascular dissection
• Specimen retrieval and morcellation
• Principles and techniques of laparoscopic hysterectomy
• Principles and techniques of laparoscopic myomectomy
• Suturing: vessel ligation, vault closure, visceral repair
