Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine grants a maximum of 40 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. The credits earned must be renewed every 2 years.
40 hours biennially out of which 20 hours must be under AOA category 1A credits associated with the practice of Osteopathic medicine under osteopathic auspices.
May only complete 8 total home-study hours to satisfy renewal requirements
No more than 6 hours of CME can be used per biennium for attendance at a board meeting.
Licensees must complete a 2-hour Domestic Violence Course abiding for every third biennial renewal
Requirement for Subsequent Renewals : All licensees should complete the following
- 1 hour in Florida Laws and Rules/Professional and Medical Ethics, (Live /Participatory) and
- 2 hours in Prevention of Medical Errors (Live /Participatory)
- Respondents who are registered with the US DEA and approved to prescribe controlled substances must complete a 2-hour course on prescribing controlled substances at each biennial renewal of licensure.
Requirement for the first time renewal whose license was issued subsequent to July 1, of the second year of the biennium must complete the following required courses:
- 1 hour in Florida Laws and Rules/Professional and Medical Ethics, (Live /Participatory) and
-2 hours in Prevention of Medical Errors (Live /Participatory)
Requirement for the first time renewal whose license was issued prior to July 1, of the second year of the biennium must complete the following required courses:
- 1 hour in Florida Laws and Rules/Professional and Medical Ethics, (Live /Participatory) and
- 2 hours in Prevention of Medical Errors (Live /Participatory)
- 1 hour on HIV/AIDS
- 2 hour course on prescribing controlled substances only to licensees registered with the DEA and authorized to prescribe controlled substances
