Spanish Association of Surgeons / Asociacion Espanola de Cirujanos (AEC)

The Spanish Association of Surgeons was founded in Madrid in 1935, although the first effective meeting of its members did not take place until March 1936. The start of the Civil War (1936-1939) and the harsh conditions of the immediate post-war period prevented the crystallization of the initiatives projected by the founders. In 1949 there was a reactivation of the company in such a way that They can speak of a true re-foundation. Since then its activities have been directed to the organization of congresses and meetings and the maintenance of its own magazine. The Association brings together the majority of Spanish surgeons and throughout its history the tensions in Spanish society and the crises that general surgery and the new specialties have gone through in Their country have been reproduced within it.
