VIII Clinical Immersion Course in Bariatric Surgery 2023 is organized by Spanish Association of Surgeons / Asociacion Espanola de Cirujanos (AEC) and will be held from Dec 11 - 12, 2023 at Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.

Description:
Aimed at  4th or 5th-year surgical residents or junior assistant members of the AEC, with a special interest in Bariatric Surgery. It is recommended that they have completed the Bariatric Surgery Initiation Course or the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Knowledge Update Course on the Virtual Campus of the Spanish Association of Surgeons.

Goals:
• Knowledge of the different bariatric surgery techniques, their indications, contraindications, results, and sequelae.
• Knowledge of the action protocol for the treatment of morbid obesity in centers with long experience in bariatric surgery.
• Knowledge of the technical details that contribute to making bariatric surgery techniques safer and have better results.

Methodology:
• Students will attend bariatric surgery surgical sessions in the operating room at centers with extensive experience and accredited faculty as experts in bariatric and metabolic surgery.
• The course will be homogeneous in all the venues and will consist of two surgical sessions in which the most representative techniques of bariatric surgery will be performed, which the students will attend in the operating room itself and will be able to ask questions or discuss technical details directly with the professors. . There will also be a theoretical-practical session in which complex cases of bariatric surgery will be discussed with the active participation of the students.
