“Geriatrics for Advanced Practice”: Educational Opportunity in caring for the vulnerable older adult. Advocate Aurora Health Care in partnership with University of Alabama Birmingham and Bellin Health will deliver a continuing professional development program (three webinars and one in person session) based on best practice guidelines from the American College of Surgeons and the American Geriatrics Society. This year’s effort will focus on improving care for frail older patients in the perioperative setting.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the activity, participants should be able to:
• Describe unique risks and identify key strategies to decrease the risk of vulnerable older patients in the perioperative period.
• Describe unique risks and identify key strategies to decrease the risk of vulnerable older patients developing delirium in the perioperative period.
• Evaluate and manage the care of older adults who has developed delirium during the perioperative time period.
