OVERVIEW

The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation (GJCF) NMOSD Grand Rounds program aims to inform practicing neurology specialists as well as the broader spectrum of neurologists and allied healthcare providers regarding latest information in evidence-based science and medicine of NMOSD. This program features 12 essential topics addressed by experts in the field at a monthly interval. Organized and curated by GJCF advisors, this series of educational webinars enables continuing medical education (CME) credit.

Session entitled Moving to Mobility: Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation” is designed to update knowledge and improve competency in the evaluation of disability and interventions to improve functional capabilities for individuals affected by NMOSD. Sensitive and early intervention using a customized and multidisciplinary approach affords the greatest potential for efficacy in physical therapy and rehabilitation for resilience in this patient population.

Educational Objectives:
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
1. Identify the clinical features and diagnostic considerations that influence rehabilitation planning in NMOSD.
2. Review and assess contemporary roles for physical therapy within an interdisciplinary framework for NMOSD.
3. Examine and evaluate current evidence on physical therapy interventions including strength, gait, balance training, and fatigue management in individuals with NMOSD.
