Conference Description :
This two-and-a-half day live symposium will be the twelfth in an annual series and will be designed to present and discuss the diagnosis and treatment paradigms for aortic diseases, including medical, endovascular, surgical, and hybrid options. The scientific program will be formulated by consulting the current literature and national data, in conjunction with the expertise of the Program Directors and esteemed faculty, and incorporating information gathered from online needs assessment surveys and evaluation outcomes.

Conference Objectives:
• Examine the current techniques in minimally and robotic invasive cardiac surgery
• Review the most recent results of transcatheter aortic and mitral valve replacement
• Review of complex structural heart issues as it relates to patient-centered care and communciation
• Review management of the left atrial appendage
• Understand the current management of acute/chronic, symptomatic/asymptomatic, and complicated/uncomplicated aortic dissection
• Examine updates on the management of bicuspid aortic valve and other heritable thoracic aortic diseases
• Compare the differing approaches to the valve sparing aortic root replacement (David procedure)
• Examine novel approaches to the management of acute type A aortic dissection
• Compare the latest results for open, hybrid, and endovascular repair for the transverse aortic arch
• Understand differences between brain protection strategies including monitoring
• Examine current use of the elephant trunk procedure for transverse arch replacement
• Compare differing techniques for the management of the false lumen in Type B aortic dissection
• Review the current management of acute and chronic type B aortic dissection
• Evaluate updates on recent advances in vascular genetics
• Review current management of the bicuspid aortic valve and its aortopathy
• Examine current management of acute pulmonary embolism
• Understand the latest techniques in open and endovascular management of complex abdominal aortic aneurysms
• Contrast open and endovascular techniques for thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm management
• Review current strategies for spinal cord protection
