OVERVIEW

Introduction to Movement Science -Sit to Stand and Walking is organized by National Centre of Rehabilitation Education (NCORE) and will be held from Mar 28 - 29, 2019 at London Road Community Hospital, Derby, England, United Kingdom.

The target audience for this medical event is therapists working with stroke but the principles are applicable to other acquired neurological disorders such as head injury.

Introduction:
This course will introduce you to the biomechanical analysis of sit to stand and walking looking at both kinematics and kinetics of normal and abnormal movement. It will also cover how to plan evidence based treatment programmes to aid those with a neurological movement disorder.

Course Aims :
• To introduce how to undertake kinematic and kinetic movement analysis of patients with a movement disorder.
• To suggest treatment programmes based on current evidence that patients can follow in a safe and effective way with and without the therapist present

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course the participant should be able to:
• Understand the principles behind the movement science approach to treatment of neurological disorders.
• Be able to analyze sit to stand and gait deviations in people with hemiplegia and other movement disorders.
• Develop training strategies to address sit to stand and gait abnormalities.
