Dr. Reilly received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He subsequently completed fellowship training in Orthopaedic trauma with a special emphasis on the treatment of pelvic and acetabular fractures and special reconstructive problems of the hip and pelvis at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan and Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. After relocating to New Jersey in 1997, Dr. Reilly has been an active member of the Department of Orthopedics division of Orthopedic Trauma.

He is currently the Fellowship Director of the Orthopedic Trauma Postgraduate Fellowship training program and Chief of the Orthopedic Trauma Service at The University Hospital. He previously served as the Director of the Orthopedic Residency Training Program. Dr. Reilly serves on multiple national and international committees committed to Orthopedic Trauma Education and Fellowship. Prior to joining the New Jersey Orthopaedic Institute, he was a clinical instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center /UCLA School of Medicine where he supervised an orthopedic trauma service treating complex fractures of the extremities, hip, and pelvis.
