This course is designed for orthopedic traumatologists and orthopedic surgeons managing
complications of fractures post-trauma. The course emphasizes the treatment of complex
fractures, fixation failures, nonunions, malunions, infections, and difficulty injury
combinations. The use of osteotomies to correct acquired and post-traumatic deformities
will be highlighted. Case presentations by the faculty and invited participants will form the
basis for the majority of topic discussions. Additionally, both complex fracture and malunion/
nonunion treatment will be discussed in small groups. Emphasis will be placed on articular
reduction, restoration of the mechanical axis, corrective osteotomy, defect management,
salvage of infection, and advanced intramedullary nailing and locking plate technologies
and applications. Two practical exercises will be included to emphasize the principles of
osteotomy correction for the treatment of nonunion and restoration of the mechanical
axis. Keynote lectures will be presented by nationally and internationally recognized master
surgeons in orthopedic trauma
