Dr. Hossam Al-Tatari graduated with an MD from the University Medical School of Debrecen, Hungary in 1994. After completing his Arab Board training in the United Arab Emirates, he moved to the USA where he completed his pediatric residency at Hurley Medical Center of Michigan State University and a Fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Children Hospital of Michigan. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Soon after completing his training in the US, Dr. Al-Tatari joined the University of Western Ontario, Canada as an adjunct professor until the summer of 2009 when he moved to Tawam Hospital in UAE as the chief of pediatric infectious diseases. He became the director of the pediatric residency program between 2010 and 2017 during which he led the program to become one of the best programs in the Middle East and among the first programs to achieve the American ACGME accreditation. He then left Tawam Hospital in 2018 to join The Heart Medical Center as the director of general pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases services. He continues to work for the University of Western Ontario as a part-time faculty member.

Dr. Al-Tatari has repeatedly received awards as the pediatrician and the teacher of the year in the USA, Canada, and UAE. Dr. Al-Tatari has more than 100 abstracts and articles in the field of pediatric infectious diseases and graduate medical education. He is also an invited keynote speaker at numerous national and international conferences. His main areas of interest are vaccines, antibiotics utilization and resistance, and clinical microbiology in addition to graduate medical education and leadership skills.
