Hariharan Shankar MD

Dr. Hariharan Shankar currently teaches at the Medical College of Wisconsin after a decade of private practice in India as an Anesthesiologist. He is also the Associate Program Director for the Pain Medicine fellowship program at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is an American Board certified anesthesiologist, with a subspecialty certification in Pain medicine. Over the years, he has received many teaching awards. Besides his active teaching role for both the anesthesia residency program and the pain medicine fellowship program, he has also delivered national and international lectures.

His area of research is in the use of ultrasound imaging for pain medicine interventions and its safety. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the use of ultrasound imaging and conducted workshops. He is one of the founding members of the Special interest group of ASRA on ultrasound in pain medicine.
