Dr. Antonio Colombo is a Professor of Cardiology and Senior Consultant at Humanitas IRCCS in Milan and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Columbus Hospital in Milan, Italy. Dr. Colombo performed landmark work in the field of coronary stenting and stent thrombosis. He is on the Editorial Board of all major Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology Journals. He received several recognitions including the TCT Career Achievement Award and the PCR Ethica Award. Dr. Colombo published over 500 papers in peer review journals, and several books in the field of coronary interventions and contributed chapters in the most important Interventional Cardiology books.
Dr. Colombo earned his MD from the University of Milan School of Medicine in 1975 and studied Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Parma Postgraduate School. He completed his residency in Cardiology at The De Gasperis Cardio Center in Milan.
He did his Internship and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine in 1978 and 1980 respectively at the Cabrini Medical Center, New York. In 1982, he was made a Fellow in Cardiology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, University of California, Irvine. He was also made a Fellow in Invasive Cardiology by the Rev. Monsignor Joseph. B. Toomey Cardiovascular Laboratory and Research Department at St. Joseph's Hospital in 1984.
