The Insulin Solution: Overcoming Barriers to Insulin Use is organized by Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) and will be held from Dec 10, 2018 - Dec 10, 2021.

Registered Nurses

This educational program will provide 4 contact hours of continuing education credit. 

Registered Dietitians
The American Association of Diabetes Educators, (AM001) is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Registered dietitians (RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered (DTRs) will receive 4 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) for completion of this program. Continuing Professional Education Provider Accreditation does not constitute endorsement by CDR of a provider, program, or materials.

Registered Pharmacists
The American Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program provides 4.0 contact hours (0.40 CEU’s) of continuing education credit.

Program Overview:
This 4-hour course gives diabetes educators increased knowledge of insulin dosing, titrations, and concentrated insulins, along with strategies for contributing to improved patient adherence. Includes lecture, interactive online activities, detailed case studies, and downloadable resources.

Learning Outcome:
Learners will have increased knowledge of dosing, titrations, and concentrated insulins, and how they may contribute to improved patient adherence.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this course, the learner will be able to: 
• Discuss current guidelines and recommendations for dosing, titrations, and concentrated insulins. 
• Evaluate individualized patient follow up and monitoring frequency to assess optimal pharmacotherapy outcomes. 
• Discuss adherence barriers to insulin therapy in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. 
• Review and develop an individualized patient care plan to promote optimal medication adherence.
