Insulin Therapy: The Next Generation is organized by Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES).

Intended Audience:
The AADE Webinars are knowledge-based activities designed for individual or groups of diabetes educators, including RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying up to date on current practices of care for their patients with diabetes and other related conditions.

Accreditation Information:
Registered Nurses
The American Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This program provides 1.5 contact hours of continuing education credit.

Registered Dietitians:
The American Association of Diabetes Educators (AM001) is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). CDR Credentialed Practitioners will receive 1.5 Continuing Professional Education units (CPEUs) for completion of this activity/material. Continuing Professional Education Provider Accreditation does not constitute endorsement by CDR of a provider, program, or materials.

Registered Pharmacists:
The American Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program provides 1.50 contact hours (0.15 CEUs) of continuing education credit.

Overview:
In this webinar, we'll take a look at how newer insulin options fit in to the diabetes management and care plan. The progression of diabetes and the role of insulin resistance in diabetes care and management will be discussed, in addition to insulin initiation, titration and conversion protocols. Current insulin product nuances and basal and bolus insulin therapies will be reviewed.

Webinar attendees will have increased knowledge of different new insulin products and their implications for use.

• Discuss new information on our understanding of the pathophysiology of diabetes.
• Describe features of different insulin products in the diabetes management and care plan.
• Compare the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters of insulin formulations and delivery methods.
