Activity Overview:
For patients with early-stage, hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/HER2-negative (HER2-) breast cancer, endocrine therapy represents the mainstay of adjuvant treatment. Conventional options for higher-risk diseases include adjuvant chemotherapy and/or extended endocrine therapy from 5 years to 10 years. The addition of cyclin-dependent kinase CDK 4/CDK 6 inhibitors to endocrine regimens represented a dramatic advance in the therapeutic management of HR+ metastatic breast cancer, leading to the investigation of these agents in the curative setting. Recent phase 3 data have shown that adding a CDK4/CDK 6 inhibitor to adjuvant endocrine therapy can also significantly improve disease-free survival for patients with high-risk, early-stage disease.
This Community Practice Connection™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from the live satellite symposium held in conjunction with the 39th Annual Miami Breast Cancer Conference® in March 2022. This unique and engaging multimedia activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects of managing patients with breast cancer, putting recent clinical trial data into a clinical context. This activity will highlight current management guidelines and emerging data regarding the treatment of early-stage, HR+/HER2- breast cancer and provide expert guidance on the application of these data to clinical practice. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.

• Discuss the utility and limitations of currently available clinical and molecular markers to assess recurrence risk in patients with early-stage HR+/HER2- breast cancer so as to identify those who may benefit from escalated adjuvant endocrine therapies
• Review evidence from clinical trials evaluating CDK4/6 inhibitors in the adjuvant setting for patients with high-risk early-stage HR+/HER2- breast cancer
• Individualize treatment planning for patients with early-stage HR+/HER2- breast cancer by integrating clinical and molecular risk assessment, clinical evidence, and expert guidelines
