Course Description:
This course helps nurses understand how oncology massage principles may support comfort, symptom relief, emotional safety, quality of life, and coordinated care for people affected by cancer. It connects cancer treatment history, lymphatic risk, skin integrity, fatigue, pain, anxiety, nausea, sleep disturbance, palliative care needs, and survivorship concerns to practical nursing decisions.

The course does not assume that every nurse will perform oncology massage techniques. Depending on local scope, role, training, employer policy, supervision, consent, and insurance, some nurses may be able to provide selected touch-based comfort support. Others will use the course primarily to improve screening, positioning, communication, referral quality, patient education, and documentation.

Use consent, emotional safety, professional boundaries, documentation, referral, and interdisciplinary communication to support individualised cancer care.

Course Pathway:
The learning pathway moves from oncology context into safety screening, adaptation, communication, referral, and case-based integration.

• Screen: Check contraindications, precautions, red flags, lymphatic risk, skin integrity, and medical devices.
• Confirm Scope: Clarify what is permitted by role, region, policy, training, and competence.
• Adapt or Refer: Modify pressure, site, speed, duration, positioning, education, referral, or escalation.
• Document: Record screening, consent, comfort goals, modifications, response, referrals, and follow-up needs.
