OVERVIEW

International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) 2021 Annual Meeting is organized by International Society for Clinical Densitometry and will be held from Mar 03 - 06, 2021.

Accreditation:
Physician Credit Designation Statement:
The International Society for Clinical Densitometry is to designate this live educational activity for a maximum of 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Description:
The ISCD 27th Annual Meeting provides a forum for the exchange of the most current and new clinically relevant and evidence?based information and research regarding skeletal health assessment. Additionally, prevention, diagnosis and treatment (pharmacological and non?pharmacological) of osteoporosis and fracture risk is a major focus. Each of these categories will be explored through an international lens, as attendees experience presentations from areas around the world As technology continues to evolve and advance, this educational program will delve into the use of artificial intelligence tools that have the potential to capture underlying trends and patterns, while also covering machine and deep learning used to model the risk of fracture. This educational program is designed to enhance learner competence by providing targeted learning opportunities to enhance knowledge which learners may begin to use in their professional practice.

Statement of Need:
Once seen as inevitable part of aging, osteoporosis has become a chronic condition, largely preventable and effectively treatable. New tools enable clinicians to assess skeletal health, determine the risk of fractures, screen patients for disease quickly, and refer them for treatment or targeted prevention measures, but only if the assessments are done in a quality manner. In order to improve the quality of patient care, this knowledge and information must be disseminated to healthcare professionals.

Pre-Meeting Courses:
• Quality Bone Densitometry/Osteoporosis Essentials Course (via Zoom) - Saturday and Sunday, February 27 & 28, 2021
• DXA Body Composition Analysis Course (via Zoom) - Monday, March 1, 2021, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm EST
• Pediatric Bone Densitometry Course (via Zoom) - Tuesday, March 2, 2021, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm EST
• Vertebral Fracture Recognition Course (via Zoom) - Wednesday, March 3, 2021, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm EST

Objectives:
• Cite 2?3 strategies that one may implement into practice regarding appropriate use of DXA to successfully manage patients.
• Identify appropriate therapeutic agents utilized to treat and manage patients with osteoporosis or other skeletal health disorders.
• Summarize the ways in which opportunistic quantitative computed tomography (QCT) can be used in the management and treatment of osteoporosis patients.
• Describe the application of artificial intelligence tools for the prediction of osteoporosis and fracture prevention.
• Explain 2?3 key strategies commonly utilized to manage and treat osteoporosis patients virtually and/or while adhering to CDC guidelines for social distancing in place due to the COVID?19 pandemic.
