OVERVIEW

Clinical Management of Occupational Exposures to Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) is organized by American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) and will be held on Oct 26, 2023.

Description:
Nurses and other healthcare providers are likely familiar with hearing the term “PFAS”  or “forever chemicals” and that these chemicals can impact  human health. There are thousands of PFAS chemicals which can be found in a variety of products most people use daily. However, most healthcare providers do not know where to find information critical to providing evidenced based care when a patient comes in with questions nor how to manage a patient’s care if an exposure is identified.

As PFAS research continues, we anticipate knowledge around PFAS’ health impacts to expand. The information provided on this webinar will pull together the most recent information available as of June 2023. Tune in for information that will help to guide clinical practice when patients, community members or colleagues present with questions around PFAS exposures, PFAS testing and/or results, health implications and what actions they can take to reduce exposures.

Course Outcomes:
• Define per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
• Describe potential exposure pathways and health effects of PFAS
• Identify resources available to health care providers around PFAS.

Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
