When the changes in memory and cognition advance beyond normal aging, it impacts not only communication and activity engagement but safety, activity engagement and quality of life. Understanding the stages of Alzheimer’s disease helps in the development of strategies to meet them at the level they are functioning while being more aware of potential red flags.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able
• to explain the changes in memory beyond normal aging
• to explain changes/challenges with Alzheimer’s disease in the early stages, middle stages and in the later stages
• describe communication modifications for those in the early stages, middle stages and in the later stages
• identify key factors in staying connected through the stages of Alzheimer’s disease
