OVERVIEW

4 Day Intensive Conversational Medical Spanish & Cultural Competency Virtual Training Session is organized by Rios Associates and will be held from May 15 - 18, 2026.

Objectives:
Acquire the ability to interview patients in Spanish, take medical history, conduct physical & neurological exam, give prescriptions and follow up instructions. Intervene with medical emergencies. Develop an awareness of differences in attitudes between Latinos & other Americans concerning time, space, clothing, foods, health & medical care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Improve rapport and engagement with Latino patients
  • Promote preventive care and expand knowledge of culture bound syndromes
  • Learn more about the Latino culture and medical terminology in Spanish
  • Steps to secure a successful patient interview
  • Interview patients in Spanish
  • Obtain a medical history
  • Conduct a physical, neurological, and other exams
  • Give prescription and follow up instructions
  • Intervene with medical emergencies
  • Deepen your understanding of the Latino culture and how that impacts healthcare decisions.
