OVERVIEW

#380 Working with Babies and Toddlers: Contemporary NDT in Action is organized by Motivations Inc. and will be held from Jun 19 - 20, 2026 at Driscoll Children's Hospital, Corpus Christi, Texas, United States of America.

Description:
Treating infants and toddlers requires a specialized skill set. This dynamic seminar focuses on contemporary Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) strategies, moving from observational assessment to effective intervention.

Designed for Physical, Occupational, and Speech Language Pathologists—as well as therapy assistants, working with young children who have neuromotor impairments such as developmental delay, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and complications related to prematurity.  This course provides practical tools and strategies that can be implemented immediately in clinical or home settings.

The course will explore both typical and atypical development in the first year of life, emphasizing the sensory and motor components that influence posture and movement. Emphasis is placed on the prevention of secondary impairments and the achievement of meaningful, functional outcomes appropriate for this age group. Participants will also explore ways to integrate therapeutic approaches into daily family routines, ensuring consistency and support beyond the clinic.

Course content is delivered through a combination of lecture, video case studies, demonstrations, and hands-on labs to reinforce practical application.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify key aspects of typical and atypical development in the first year of life.
  2. Describe both multisystem and single-system interactions that impact postural control in developmental milestones
  3. Assess sensory impairments and incorporate appropriate strategies into treatment for independent play skills
  4. Demonstrate handling and treatment strategies using both dolls and partners during lab sessions
