18th Annual Clinical Decision Making (CDM) in Emergency Medicine: An Evidence Based Conference and LLSA Review is organized by Well-Assembled Meetings, Mount Sinai Medical Center, University of Florida (UF) Health Jacksonville, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine & Science, Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), University of Colorado School of Medicine, EB Medicine - Emergency Medicine Practice and will be held from Jun 27 - 30, 2019 at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, United States of America.

Target Audience:
This live activity is designed for emergency physicians, physicians in primary care, nurse practitioners and physician assistants working in ambulatory and emergent care settings.

Accreditation:
EB Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 20.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for the main conference course, plus 18 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (trauma) and 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (stroke) available online. EB Medicine designates the pre-conference ultrasound workshop for a maximum of 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and the neonatal resuscitation and obstetrics workshop for a maximum of 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Pre-Conference Workshop:
Optional Critical Ultrasound Workshop will be held on Jun 26, 2019.
This session will provide small-group, hands-on experience evaluating acute and critical patients in the emergency department. Stations will cover assessment of the heart, lungs and inferior vena cava, and the use of ultrasound to guide bedside procedures. We will cover simple assessments of cardiac function, pulmonary edema, and other common pathology, as well as comprehensive, multi-system assessments to guide volume resuscitation in shock.

Precipitous Deliveries and Neonatal Resuscitation Workshop will be held on Jun 28, 2019.

Conference Goal:
The purpose of this activity is to provide attendees with the evidence-based practice information, specifically in the areas of emergency critical care, ultrasound, pediatric care, and airway management, as well as study information the Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment examination.

Conference Description:
CDM is a four-day symposium focused on providing a clinical update for the practicing clinician in emergency medicine. The LLSA review is designed to ensure passage of the LLSA by using an audience response system and the actual questions from the exam. The format for the conference is case-based with questions that highlight the main teaching points of the session, followed by a discussion of the main diagnostic and management issues related to the case, and ending with a focused discussion of the case’s outcome.

New at the conference this year 8 stroke credits and 18 trauma credits are included with the program. After attending the 1.5-hour session on stroke, attendees will be given online access to volume II of EB Medicine's Emergency Stroke Care book, and can earn 8 stroke credits after completing the online CME test. Additionally, after attending the 1.5-hour session on trauma, attendees will be given online access to volume II of EB Medicine’s Emergency Trauma Carebook, and can earn 18 trauma credits after completing the online CME test. There is no extra cost to the attendee and this is included in the program. Instructions on how to access the additional content will be provided at the conference.

Conference Objectives are:
Upon completion of this activity, you should be able to: 
• Prepare for the annual LLSA examination; 
• Review trends, concerns, and updates in prehospital care, paramedicine, dermatological conditions, and pediatric sedation and analgesia; 
• Identify data in the current literature regarding stroke concepts, controversies, and advances; 
• Discuss management of geriatric and obese trauma patients, manage acute pain in trauma as well as ballistic injuries, assess and manage traumatic sports injuries, and identify steps to mitigate risk in trauma malpractice; 
• Analyze best practices in the ED with regard to cardiopulmonary emergencies and sports medicine; 
• Discuss management of critical care conditions, including sepsis, acute pulmonary embolism, airway, and fluid resuscitation with ultrasound guidance; and 
• Review the elements affecting practice improvement and risk management.
