2019 Cath Lab Essentials Continuing Medical Education Conference

2019 Cath Lab Essentials Continuing Medical Education Conference is organized by University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine and will be held on Jan 26, 2019 at Fashion Island Hotel Newport Beach, Newport Beach, California, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is Catheterization lab nurses and technicians, cardiovascular nurses, students, fellows in training and local community hospital physicians. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description:
The Society of Invasive Cardiac Professionals recommends periodic updates on current and new catheterization lab techniques and equipment. The UCI Health Cath Lab Essentials Program was created to further knowledge in this dynamic and changing field.

More UCI faculty speakers will participate in our 2019 program, allowing for an expanded topics list. Catheterization lab nurses and staff will receive updates on:
• Procedure techniques
• Basic hemodynamics
• ECG interpretations
• Use of pacemakers and automated implantable cardioverter defibrillators (AICDs)
• Cardiovascular pathophysiology
• Angiography
• Novel interventional procedures
• Devices and electrophysiology

Course Objectives:
• Describe the hemodynamics in the Cardiac Cath Lab, identify pressure measurement, artifacts and the application of pressure waveforms to the diagnosis of valvular abnormalities.
• List indications and contraindications for cardiac catheterization, identify complications and their management, and explain the use of transfemoral and transradial catheterization techniques.
• Identify new methods for interventional cardiology procedures, the use of hemodynamic support devices, coronary stents, fractional flow reserve (FFR), intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT).
