Arnold Seto MD, MPA, FSCAI

Dr. Seto is an internationally recognized cardiologist with over 150 peer-reviewed publications, 20 book chapters, and numerous presentations at international conferences. His research contributions have focused on making cardiac procedures safer for patients. He has been the lead investigator for several practice-changing multicenter randomized controlled trials (FAUST, RAUST) that demonstrated that ultrasound guidance is safer and more efficient for invasive cardiovascular procedures than traditional palpation methods. He has contributed to other research studies (DEFINE-FLAIR, DEFINE-PCI) which have demonstrated simpler methods for determining the appropriateness of placing a coronary stent in a patient. Most recently he and his colleague demonstrated how a simple hemostatic patch (Statseal) can help speed blood clotting and reduce complications after radial artery procedures. These results and others have been published in major journals including JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, JACC, and the New England Journal of Medicine.

He is on the editorial board for JSCAI the Journal of the SCAI, Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Case Reports, and Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, and reviewer for over 10 journals. He serves as faculty and abstract reviewer for major professional society meetings including ACC, SCAI, TCT, and AHA. He is presently serving as Treasurer and Executive Committee Member of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the international professional society for interventional cardiology. He is also the President of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories for 2022.

Dr. Seto has served as Chief of Cardiology at the Long Beach VA Medical Center where he maintains an active practice. He is a Professor at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and an Associate Professor at UCI. He has been named a Physician of Excellence by the Orange County Medical Association, and a Southern California Super Doctor from 2016-2022.
