Teferi Y. Mitiku MD

Dr. Teferi Mitiku is a board-certified UCI Health cardiologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders and device-based therapies. His clinical interests include radiofrequency ablation of complex arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, and flutter due to structural heart disease. He also is highly skilled in the implantation of pacemakers, internal defibrillators (ICD) and biventricular devices (BIV/ICD) for cardiac resynchronization therapy.

Mitiku earned his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in Los Angeles. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, Calif., and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease and electrophysiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn. He comes to UC Irvine from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Mich., where he served as director of its complex ablation program. He is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, the American Medical Association and the American College of Cardiology.
