Mental Health Care for Emerging Adults is organized by MedStar Health and will be held on Sep 28, 2018 at National Union Building, Washington, Dist of Col, United States of America. The target audience for this medical event is Pediatrists, Psychiatrists.

Course Description:
Millenials, iGen, GenZ, Digital Natives? Technology and social media have transformed the social and cultural landscape over the past decade creating a different set of challenges for emerging adults. However, technology is not the only factor in the healthy development of emerging adults. Mental Health Care for Emerging Adults is a one-day conference designed to highlight the unique needs of emerging adults. Presentations will address innovative approaches to mental health treatment, social media and suicide, the experience of families/patients in the system, technology and treatment and community-based approaches to health care, and working with transgendered youth. By the end of the conference, participants will have increased knowledge about the dynamics and developmental milestones of emerging adults and increased awareness of the distinct nature of this age group and ways in which treatment approaches can be tailored to better meet the needs of this population.

Course Objectives:
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to;
• Describe the unique nature of emerging adulthood
• Describe the developmental milestones of emerging adulthood and use these as a framework to coordinate healthcare
• Identify the ways in which social media functions in the life of emerging adults and integrate the relevant pieces into treatment plans
• Determine components of innovative treatments that can be integrated into your clinical practice
• Compare and contrast the approaches of Arnett's emerging adulthood paradigm with the developmental frame
• Describe the unique nature of emerging adulthood and how you might utilize this conceptual framework to inform assessment, intervention, and evaluation.
• Identify the ways in which shifts in social and technological norms have impacted the development of emerging adults and how it impacts treatment interventions.
• Evaluate the ways in which behavioral milestones for emerging adults have shifted and describe how it will be incorporated into treatment and behavior plans.
