Argyris Stringaris MD, PhD, MRCPsych

Professor Argyris Stringaris is a clinician-scientist, neuroscientist, and Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University College London (UCL), where he also serves as Pro-Vice-Provost, co-leading the Grand Challenges for Mental Health & Wellbeing initiative. He trained in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital and has held senior research leadership positions, including as Senior Investigator and Chief of the Section of Clinical and Computational Psychiatry at the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health (NIH), and as a Wellcome Trust Fellow at King’s College London.

His research focuses on mood, emotion dysregulation, depression, and the neurodevelopmental mechanisms underlying mental health disorders in young people, integrating clinical, computational, and neurobiological approaches, and he is co-director of UCL’s Anxiety, Self-image and Mood (AIM) Lab and Clinic. Professor Stringaris is recognised internationally for contributions to child and adolescent psychopathology and for advancing early intervention strategies in mental health.
