American Academy of Pain Medicine 34th Annual Meeting : Managing Acute And High-Impact Chronic Pain Through Multidisciplinary Care is organized by American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) and will be held during Apr 25 - 29, 2018 at Vancouver Convention Centre, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Pain Medicine Best Practices: Integrative Solutions for Critical Challenges Preconference: AAPM designates this live activity for a maximum of 9 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Interdisciplinary/Multidisciplinary Pain-Based Care Preconference: AAPM designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Attendees cannot receive credit for simultaneous sessions.

CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION :
Meeting Theme is "Managing Acute & High-Impact Chronic Pain Through Multidisciplinary Care."

The meeting will be designed to provide key stakeholders – especially physicians and members of their treatment teams – with the skills and knowledge necessary to more fully incorporate multidisciplinary care into their practices in order to improve care and optimize patient outcomes. Payer and other stakeholders’ perspectives will also be included.

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS :
• Team based interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and stepped care models of treatment
• Integrating state of the art interventional procedures within a comprehensive pain management treatment plan (i.e. spine injection procedures, peripheral nerve injections, neuromodulation)
• Physical and occupational therapies
• Non-opioid and opioid pharmacotherapy, including addiction and substance abuse treatment
• Behavioral health interventions (i.e. cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based stress reduction)
• Exercise, patient education, and wellness regimens
• Musculoskeletal care (i.e. soft tissue injections, ultrasound guided procedures)
• Comprehensive physical and psychosocial patient assessments
• Practice guidelines and updates on the National Pain Strategy.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES ARE :
• describe recent advances in research, clinical best practices, patient management, practice management, and the diagnosis and treatment of patients in pain to pain medicine clinicians.
• assess the most up-to-date scientific developments and clinical best practices in the field of pain medicine.
• review the wide range of treatment therapies available to help patients suffering from pain and pain-related psychosocial dysfunction regain their quality of life.
• assess, treat, and improve outcomes for patients suffering from multiple types of pain through the use of evidence-based, integrative/ multidisciplinary pain management strategies and patient-centered treatment plans.
• improve patient safety and decrease the rate of opioid- and pain analgesic–related adverse events.
