James W. Atchison DO

James W Atchison, DO, is Medical Director of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago Center for Pain Management, and Professor of Physical Management & Rehabilitation (PMR) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed his medical school training at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens and his PMR residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Dr. Atchison has been in practice at academic medical centers for more than 20 years, including the University of Kentucky and the University of Florida prior to coming to Northwestern University. He has presented courses, lectures, and workshops nationally and internationally on pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain management, care of spinal injuries, and spinal manipulation. Dr. Atchison has led and participated in countless research projects including some funded by the National Institutes of Health. In 2010, he was recognized by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with their Distinguished Clinician Award.
