4th Workshop on Emerging Issues in Oncogenic Virus Research

OVERVIEW
About one sixth of cancers are associated with infections, mainly viruses. However, it is likely that well-established and/or novel oncogenic viruses are linked to additional human cancers of unknown etiology.
The success of the first three Emerging Oncogenic Viruses meetings (held in 2010, 2012, and 2014) and the enthusiastic feedback from the participants (about 120 top scientists) have encouraged us to repeat the event in 2016 and to broaden the workshop's scope. The meeting will still focus on novel oncogenic viruses, but will also include new insights on well-established oncogenic viruses.
The 4th Workshop on Emerging Issues in Oncogenic Virus Research will be held in San Pietro in Bevagna, Manduria, Italy, on 15–19 June 2016. The meeting is intended for basic researchers (biologists and epidemiologists) as well as clinicians.
The workshop is organized and co-sponsored by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum; DKFZ), with additional support from other international and Italian institutes.
The comfortable venue will facilitate casual, unhurried personal interactions in order to promote in-depth discussions and provide opportunities to establish new collaborations.
The seaside village of San Pietro in Bevagna is located near the city of Manduria in the province of Taranto, in the Puglia region of Southern Italy.
Fellowships are available for the workshop. Applications are invited from junior scientists (PhD students and postdoctoral fellows) who are nationals of a Member State of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), which is supporting the fellowship programme. The fellowships will cover participation in the meeting, accommodation and meals, and ground transportation during the meeting. Other travel costs will be at the expense of the applicants.The deadline is 15 March 2016
