Urban Emergency Medicine 2015

With more Americans living in increasingly dense population centers, the practice of Emergency Medicine has been adapting to a unique set of circumstances. Healthcare disparities, special populations, urban violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and much more, all converge to form what has been called “Urban Emergency Medicine.” This conference will explore emergency medicine in the urban healthcare environment through a wide range of evidence-based reviews of the special clinical challenges that emergency physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, as well as out-of-hospital providers, face daily. The goal of this conference is to increase knowledge and enhance the competence of attendees. Emphasis will be placed on practical application of the evidence-based topics presented.

Topics for this conference have been selected based on the educational needs determined from the identified professional practice gaps. The gaps were derived from a variety of sources including clinical expert input and other medical and nursing data.
