OVERVIEW
This course is designed to update clinicians with the dramatic changes that have occurred over the past 5-10 years in the understanding of causes, screening methods, prevention, identification, and management of cervical precancer. Recent changes that will be reviewed include the new unified screening guidelines new consensus terminology for lower anogenital tract squamous disease and the new management guidelines that were developed for cytological and histological abnormalities. The mechanism of carcinogenesis of human papillomavirus (HPV) on the cervix will be discussed.
