Wanda Phipatanakul, MD, MS, is a Westonian Endowed Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, and Director of the Asthma, Allergy, Immunology, Dermatology, and Rheumatology Research Center at Boston Children's Hospital. She received her medical degree from Loma Linda University and a master's degree in clinical epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Phipatanakul completed her pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and an allergy fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She leads her own school and home-based community inner-city asthma studies and is the Boston Pediatric Principal Investigator of NIH-funded asthma clinical research networks tackling practice management knowledge gaps and prevention.

Dr. Phipatanakul utilizes the knowledge from these clinical research studies to provide evidence-based care for her patients, whom she sees primarily at Boston Children's Hospital. Her research interests include early interventions in young children, particularly prevention and immunologic/biologics and other interventions targeted towards the allergic asthma pathway. Dr. Phipatanakul's long-standing relationship with the community, comprehensively evaluating the role of school-specific exposures and asthma, allergies, and food allergies allow her to work towards incorporating public policy and school-based asthma/allergy management initiatives.

Dr. Phipatanakul has authored over 350 peer-reviewed articles in various scientific journals, and Chairs the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) Environmental Occupational Respiratory Disorders Interest Section and the AAAAI Interest Section Coordinating Committee. Dr. Phipatanakul has received mentoring awards from the Thai Association of Physicians Foundation, Harvard Medical School, and the Pediatric Academic Society. She was elected in 2017 to the American Society of Clinical Investigation, an Honor Society for Research.
