Thomas P. Bleck MD, MCCM, FNCS

Dr. Thomas P. Bleck is a neurocritical care specialist whose research focuses on status epilepticus and clinical trials in critically ill neurological patients. He is a professor of neurology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and professor emeritus of neurological sciences, neurosurgery, internal medicine, and anesthesiology at Rush Medical College, where he directed clinical neurophysiology and served as associate chief medical officer for critical care.

Dr. Bleck was the founding president of the Neurocritical Care Society and a long-time editor for Critical Care Medicine. He currently serves on the editorial boards of Annals of Intensive Care and Epilepsy Currents. He has held leadership roles with the Society of Critical Care Medicine, multiple American Board committees, and the American Neurological Association.

He is a Master of Critical Care Medicine and a fellow of 11 professional societies. His past roles include directing the neuroscience ICU at the University of Virginia and chairing the neurology department at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare.

Dr. Bleck’s research spans subarachnoid hemorrhage, ICH, TBI, status epilepticus, infections, and neuromuscular respiratory failure. He has authored over 250 papers, 200 book chapters, and delivered more than 600 lectures in 30 countries. He holds board certifications in internal medicine, neurology, critical care, epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology, and neurocritical care.
