Dr. Susan Hong, MD, MPH, FACP, is a nationally recognized leader in cancer survivorship care and clinical research. She currently serves as Director of the Cancer Survivorship Program at VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she also holds the RGC Professorship in Cancer Research and is an Associate Professor in the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Palliative Care at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. In her role at Massey, Dr. Hong leads strategic efforts to build and expand comprehensive survivorship services, improve long-term outcomes for cancer survivors, and implement patient-centered clinical programs across the care continuum.

Before joining Massey in 2021, Dr. Hong served as Director of the Adult Cancer Survivorship Program at the University of Illinois Cancer Center, where she established and expanded one of the first survivorship programs within a federally qualified health center, and developed a nationally recognized oncogeneralist fellowship to train clinicians in holistic survivorship care. She has also served as Director of the Breast Cancer Survivorship Program and Associate Director for Clinical Cancer Genetics at the University of Chicago, contributing to multidisciplinary clinical and research initiatives.

Dr. Hong earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Barnard College, her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Columbia University, and her Medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is board-certified in internal medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), and is involved in national efforts to advance survivorship research and education. Her work focuses on improving the quality of life for cancer survivors and addressing the long-term health needs of diverse populations.
