Rosemary Gafner EdD, MEd

Rosemary Gafner, Ed.D. is co-founder and president of MedRisk, Medical Risk Management, Inc., a Houston-based provider of continuing education and risk management services for healthcare professionals. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston, where she earned her doctorate. Before establishing MedRisk in 1988, Dr. Gafner was affiliated with St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. She advises hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers on interpersonal relationships, medical liability risk reduction, and defensible charting. An accomplished educator, author, and public speaker, she has presented over 500 risk management workshops to physicians throughout the country. In addition, she has authored over 50 CME courses on risk management and patient safety. These courses have been used by over 15,000 physicians as a source of information on risk management techniques and malpractice prevention.
