Matthew C. Mauck MD

Matt Mauck, MD, Ph.D., received his undergraduate degree at Xavier University and his MD, Ph.D. degrees through the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology, followed by a Pain Medicine Fellowship at Duke University prior to joining the faculty at the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Mauck, trained as a basic scientist in systems neuroscience, has an interest in the pathogenesis of chronic pain following traumatic injury. He is currently focused on the transition from acute to chronic pain following major thermal burn injury. He is exploring the epidemiology of persistent pain and itches following burn injury, and working towards determining fundamental molecular mechanisms that underlie the transition from acute to chronic pain following burn injury.
