OVERVIEW

10th Annual University of North Carolina (UNC) - Duke - Wake Forest Pediatric Anesthesiology Conference is organized by University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine and would be held on Sep 23, 2017 at William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

The purpose of this course is to provide physicians, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), anesthesia assistants (AAs) and registered nurses with an up-to-date refresher course on information, techniques, and current research relevant to the practice of pediatric anesthesia.

Course Objectives:

• Diagnose, evaluate and treat malignant hyperthermia
• Explain current controversies surrounding acceptable minimum blood pressure in children, including neonates
• Implement pharmacologic therapies in accordance with the latest in FDA statements
• Manage chronic pain in pediatric patients in accordance with current CDC and FDA guidance of opioids and non-narcotic alternatives
• Apply enhanced recovery pathways in pediatric anesthesia
• Use various methods of ultrasound technique for vascular access in pediatric patient
• Explain the most current roles of ECMO
• Prepare pediatric cardiac transplant patients for non-cardiac surgery
• Establish multiple techniques for successful isolation of the lung in the pediatric patient
• Practice techniques of conflict management in the workplace
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts in patient care.
