Dr. Mara Rendi received her MD, PhD from Dartmouth Medical School where her PhD focused on the molecular mechanisms of breast carcinogenesis. Following pathology residency at the University of Washington, she completed a Breast and Gynecologic Pathology fellowship under the guidance of Drs. Kim Allison and Rochelle Garcia. After fellowship, Dr. Rendi joined the faculty at the University of Washington and became the head of pathology medical education for the School of Medicine. In 2018, her family moved to Minneapolis, MN where she joined a 39-member subspecialized pathology group in the Twin Cities serving a large breast and gynecology community. She continues to help lead the University of Washington School of Medicine Pathology thread and enjoys teaching pathologists, residents, and medical students across the country.

Dr. Rendi’s specific interests within pathology include diagnostic and molecular pathology of breast cancer, radiologic and pathologic correlation, and education of breast cancer clinicians on the important therapeutic implications of pathologic diagnoses. She has co-authored approximately 50 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters on breast pathology and enjoys speaking at educational courses and events.
