Liana K. Billings, MD, MMSc, is director of the Diabetes and Obesity Research Program and the Personalized Medicine in Diabetes Program at NorthShore University Health System in Skokie, Illinois. She is an adult endocrinologist in the NorthShore Medical Group at NorthShore University Health System and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. 

Dr. Billings is focused on designing and implementing studies that increase our understanding of diabetes, medication response, and comprehensive therapy. She conducts both investigator-led and industry-sponsored clinical trials in diabetes and obesity. One of her main research goals is to bridge the gap between translational research in genetics and clinical application. She has published in Diabetes, Diabetes Care, Lancet Diabetes, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. 

Dr. Billings received her medical degree from the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Chicago and her Masters in Clinical Investigation from the Harvard Medical School. She completed her Internal Medicine training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and finished a three-year fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
