Dr. Justine Marie Turner is a pediatric gastroenterologist and Professor at the University of Alberta. Dr. Turner is originally from Perth, Western Australia, where she completed her General Pediatrics training in 1996. She followed this with 7 years of sub-specialty training in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, including a 2-year Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, and 6 years of nutrition-related research training, with the completion of a PhD in Clinical Nutrition in 2006. Dr. Turner’s research interests include infant and adolescent nutrition, the effect of chronic gastrointestinal diseases on nutrition, specifically bone accrual, and intestinal failure secondary to neonatal short bowel syndrome. She is the medical lead for the Multidisciplinary Pediatric Celiac Disease Clinic and the Pediatric Home Nutrition Support Program at Stollery Children’s Hospital Edmonton. She is currently Vice Chair of the Research Committee for the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. She is a founding member of the North American Society for the Study of Celiac Disease and is pleased to have been a Medical Advisor for the Edmonton Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association since 2005.
