Jennifaye Brown PT, MSPT, PhD, NCS, CAPS

Dr. Jennifaye V. Brown, PT, MSPT, PhD, NCS, CAPS, spent 34 years as a clinician, community-based researcher, and teacher (academic, clinical, and continuing education) focused on stroke neurorehabilitation across the continuum of care. Dr. Brown’s special interests and extensive clinical background included walking analysis and training, as well as AFO (ankle-foot orthosis, or foot brace) fabrication and modification. Her past research agenda explored the perceptions and opinions of individuals with stroke regarding their experiences with AFO fabrication, modification, and maintenance.

As an Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor by the Clinical Instructor Education Board and a four 10-year term board certified neurologic clinical specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Dr. Brown has taught in the neuromuscular curriculum at physical therapy (PT) and physical therapist assistant (PTA) programs in Georgia, Ohio, South Carolina (SC), and South Dakota.

She presented information on neurorehabilitation at community support groups and conferences, as well as taught continuing education courses for national and international healthcare organizations. It is time to move on and be a movement specialist. If exercise/physical activity is medicine and food is medicine, Dr. Brown’s goal is to combine her expertise in these areas AND her experiences as a stroke survivor for healthy living and aging gracefully in the home, work, and leisure spaces.
