Jean Lea Spitz MPH, RDMS

Jean Lea Spitz, MPH, RDMS is Professor and Chairman, Department of Radiologic Technology, College of Allied Health, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). Professor Spitz has been a faculty member in the department and program director of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program since 1977. She was appointed Chairman of the department in 1996. Ms. Spitz is a past president and fellow of SDMS, and editor-emeritus of the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

She is president of the SDMS Educational Foundation and co-author of The Scan which was published in 1999 by the foundation. She has served as chairman of the Joint Review Committee for Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She is a fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and served as a member of their Board of Governors. In addition to teaching, she provides clinical sonography service to patients maintaining a regular weekend shift in a tertiary care general lab, and providing weekly service in prenatal practices.
